“Sitting”

collage, pen on paper, acrylic, on canvas 40 x 30cm

After some time left to sit and be, this piece felt to me like it would benefit from some simple, uniform shapes. I had a watercolour painting, which I cut into circles and glued in locations, that I sensed would be balanced. It felt like this image would work well as a contemplative piece, so I added the two sitting figures, I have a series of works which are on this theme.

I like this style of drawing because the resulting images feel loose and open, this is how I prefer to do observational drawing, they literally feel like they are about to move, or are already moving, blurring between one pose and the next, alive with energy and potential.

What are your thoughts?

Thanks, Sam.
