Mickey remix

I just spent two days doing workshops at a Children’s book fair in Beijing, we were painting large Mickey Mouse heads, of course I didn’t paint normal Mickeys.

Acrylic paint and newspaper, on plaster.
Acrylic brushed and scraped.
Dripped acrylic paint on plaster.

If you would like me to customise something for you get in touch, I am more interested in doing shapes, pattern, cartoon character and simple gestural representational designs for commission work, rather than realistic imagery, so take a look at my collage and animation work and you can get an idea of what I’m best at doing.

Thanks for reading, Sam

A few new felt tip drawings

With these two images, I seem to be focused on characters, this is a pretty common thing in my work, partly why I studied animation for 2 years, I should do some character illustration projects, perhaps I’ll blog what I’ve done so far and see what feed back people give me on them, the problem I find is I run out of steam, spending too long planning and thinking about these character projects, there just seems a lot to consider, with anatomy, storytelling, layout etc, something that has stopped me animating, preferring the spontaneity of making art, maybe I need to work more with others with these comic projects.
