Eric

So who is Eric? He’s a crazy guy, maybe my alternate ego, more insulting and rude though, maybe, though I’m still playing with him and what he will be. I’ve been developing Eric visually recently, though he has existed behind the scenes for at least 10 years, and waiting to come to life, here I’m really just thinking aloud and considering how he him is a real potential project, that just needs some real world target outcomes and testing.

Such as a story, a character sheet, described who he is, what he does, wants and difficulties he faces, and getting feedback.

He is in the project que, I do have a few projects, personal ones, meaning there is no client and no income, as of yet seen from this project, this is all still an educational process for me, and as always I have many questions to ask. I believe my answers will not come until well along with these projects.

I don’t want to get lost in asking and answering questions, it is too easy to get stuck with that, as I have often been and projects just remain undone and obscure, their only purpose seeming to be an endless procession of brainstorms, questions and replay the whole process again, inaction and stasis can be the seed for great frustration and un-fulfilment and I’m seeking to move past this, but I am also often plagued by which project to choose.

I think it’s a matter of knowing what drives me, inpires and motivates and doing the projects that match that the most well, so what does inspire and motivate me? Collaboration and story are the clearest answer to that, does Eric fit, does he or can he be made to push and use those two factors in his creation? I think so, he’s already part of a collaborative project, the limit is the sky and of course time and money.

Funding and support can only exist once something has been recognised as needing and deserving it, I don’t think Eric is there yet, so I need to continue, flesh him out the best way I know, and let’s see where he can be and what can exist through his fictional self. Feedback is always appreciated, whether about my designs, story ideas or how I think about things, always room to listen and improve, I’ve done a few animation/character projects, but I am still very much a noobie.
