I often feel put off photographing tourist spots, just because of the volume of photos taken already and it just feels like a bit of a waste of time, trying to make something original and different, but then many people looking at my blog will never have seen this cathedral before anyway, so I decided to share these, my aim with these shots was to try and create something that has some texture and are just small glimpses of this building, with a bit more mystery, rather than the typical postcard full cathedral images people often take.
the first two are abstract, had made some experimental marks and decided to fill the page with random detail, it’s interesting how detail I feel can add a lot of interest and beauty to an image.
The last image is of a group of shacks near my home, these are very interesting ad always varied to look at and make art from. I do like making images of these as well as boats, I plan to do as many as possible in the next few weeks.
These are based on a very common sight here in Saigon, as there are so many motorbikes there are of course a lot of these mini bike garages, each one with a very unique character, but all equally as greasy as each other.
This set of images are based on a garage near my home.
We took a few buses and a bike taxi to Monkey Island, last weekend, a very beautiful area, with lots of swamp, trees and monkeys, it is always fascinating to see their expressions and lots of cheekyness as expected, one nicked my hat, which I thought a fair trade for letting me take a shot, what a great experience to hang out with our cousins for a bit!
